MTF Logistics ships full (FCL) and shared (LCL) containers from Europe and the Mediterranean to every major Australian port, then handles customs clearance and delivery to your door. One MTF team quotes and manages the whole journey, so you deal with one contact from pickup in Europe to delivery anywhere in Australia.
What MTF handles
- Pickup from your supplier and export clearance in Europe, or from the port if your supplier ships FOB
- FCL in 20ft and 40ft containers, and LCL for smaller shipments
- Arrival into Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide or Fremantle
- Australian customs clearance, duty and GST calculation, and biosecurity paperwork
- Delivery Australia-wide, by side-loader or standard truck
Main routes and transit times
MTF has contracted rates from all the main European and Mediterranean ports, including Rotterdam, Antwerp, Hamburg, Felixstowe, Le Havre, Genoa, La Spezia, Valencia, Barcelona, Piraeus and Istanbul, into Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Fremantle.
| Service | Typical port-to-port time | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Direct sailing | About 40 days | Time-critical cargo; fewer port calls and less handling |
| Transhipment via Singapore | About 55 days | Lower freight rate when timing is flexible |
Add time for pickup and export clearance in Europe, and for clearance and delivery in Australia. LCL also needs time to consolidate at origin and unpack at the depot here. MTF quotes both services when they are available so you can choose between speed and cost.
Biosecurity on European cargo
Many European countries are on Australia’s brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB) list. From 1 September to 30 April, certain goods from those countries must be treated before or on arrival. MTF checks whether your goods are in scope before booking and arranges treatment either in Europe or after arrival in Australia, depending on the cargo, cost and timing, so it is planned rather than discovered at the border.
What we ship from Europe
MTF regularly moves industrial equipment and machinery from Europe, such as full-container shipments from Italy picked up at the factory (EXW) and delivered to the customer’s site in Australia. If your goods need special handling, tell us when you ask for a quote.

How long does sea freight from Europe to Australia take?
About 40 days port to port on a direct sailing, or around 55 days with transhipment via Singapore. Allow extra time for pickup, clearance and delivery, for LCL consolidation, and for BMSB treatment in season.
Should I ship FCL or LCL from Europe?
LCL is usually cheaper below about 13 to 15 cubic metres; above that, compare both. See our LCL vs FCL guide.
Who pays the European charges?
It depends on the Incoterm. Under EXW you pay from the supplier’s door; under FOB the supplier pays until the goods are on board.
Do goods from Europe need BMSB treatment?
Certain goods from listed European countries shipped between 1 September and 30 April must be treated. MTF checks your goods against the current rules before booking and tells you where treatment will be done and what it costs.
