Freight Forwarder, Customs Broker Service, Logistics Company
MTF Logistics offers a specialised freight forwarding service aimed to extend Adelaide based businesses supply chain to a multitude of locations across the globe including Asia, Europe, Middle East, USA and Canada.
With a skilled team of freight forwarders and customs brokers, MTF specialise in providing reliable and cost effective logistics and freight forwarding to key business districts across South Australia.
MTF’s Australian based freight forwarding solutions operate both sea and air cargo services out of key transport hubs including Port Adelaide and Adelaide Airport, allowing us to provide a customised service, catering to all your cargo needs with tailored and well planned solutions specifically to your cargo type, budget and location.
For sea based cargo, Port Adelaide is a great choice. Located 14kms north-west of Adelaide and is the seaport suburb of South Australia’s state capital. As the main maritime gateway for South Australia, Port Adelaide is operated by Flinders Ports, South Australia’s leading port operator which also boasts six regional ports located at Port Lincoln, Port Pirie, Thevenard, Port Giles, Wallaroo and Klein Point.
Perfect for heavy or bulk items, liquids or perishable items, sea freight is an economical and reliable option, however it is not suitable for time sensitive freight requirements, which air freight may be more effective.
MTF Logistics Adelaide based sea freight services gives your business reliable freight access to many Asia Pacific locations, and extends your supply chain reach to locations in USA, Canada, Europe and South America.
When quick turnaround freight is required, Adelaide Airport is central to both Northern and Southern Industrial Regions and offers easy access to port and rail services, as well as B double access for road freight options.
The airport business district is a highly secure environment offering 24-hour operation and close proximity to multi-national carrier hubs.
MTF Logistics has access to many air cargo import and export options to suit your requirements including:
Moving your cargo via air services may be beneficial for smaller, more time sensitive cargo where cost effectiveness is less of a priority.
With a high attention to detail at every stage of cargo transit including pickup, documentation, customs clearance and delivery or pickup, this ensures an efficient and cost effective service delivery and reduces delays that can be costly to your business.
MTF Logistics can also suggest local methods such as rail or road to complete your cargos’ journey from abroad to your business or end location.
Our highly knowledgeable team can assist in recommending a cargo method which is the best fit for your cargo type, budget and delivery time frame.

Adelaide is a different proposition from the eastern ports, and pretending otherwise does importers no favours.
Flinders Adelaide Container Terminal is South Australia’s only container terminal operator. It works berths 6 and 7 at Outer Harbor with 660 metres of quay, three post-panamax cranes and 22 straddle carriers. Both berths are dredged to 14.2 metres and take vessels up to 300 metres. Flinders Ports owns and operates the port; Flinders Warehousing and Distribution handles container storage.
One operator rather than three has two consequences. There is no stevedore competition to shop between, so terminal charges are what they are. But there is also no uncertainty about which terminal your container lands at, which makes Adelaide simpler to plan.
Volume is correspondingly smaller: 286,425 TEU of full containers in the 2025 financial year and 399,861 TEU in total, down 1.9% on the prior year. That decline was attributed to reduced containerised agricultural cargo and the gap between the Capricorn service ending and MSC’s Koala service starting in January 2025.
Fewer services means less frequency, and less frequency means a missed sailing costs more. On Maersk’s Greater Australia Connect rotation Adelaide is called after Melbourne and Sydney, at day 37 against Melbourne’s day 23. If your cargo is time-critical, discharging in Melbourne and moving it overland to Adelaide is sometimes faster than waiting for a direct call. Sometimes it is not. Worth pricing both.
The container terminal runs two 620-metre rail spurs and handles five liner rail services a week — around 37,000 TEU a year, roughly 9.9% of terminal throughput. Flinders Ports’ GatewaySA programme is upgrading terminal access and egress with new gate infrastructure, optical character recognition and vehicle booking integration.
Port Adelaide is a biosecurity first point of entry for goods other than live horses. Adelaide Airport is likewise a first point of entry for goods other than live horses, and its master plan designates the Airport East Precinct as the freight and logistics hub. Qantas Freight’s Adelaide cargo terminal is at 9 Sir Richard Williams Avenue.
The live horse exclusion is the one to note. Anything in that category needs a different entry point.
South Australian exporters have an advantage the volume figures obscure. Adelaide is a wine, grain and agricultural export port with rail connections inland and a terminal that is not fighting east coast congestion. For export cargo out of South Australia, going through Outer Harbor rather than trucking to Melbourne is usually the right answer, and the containerised agricultural trade is exactly what the terminal is set up for.
MTF are very responsive, well priced & a pleasure to deal with. They really are on the customer’s side. I’ve successfully imported all kinds of building materials with them over the last year or so, they always take the stress out of import paperwork & keep my products moving through the system as fast as possible.
The team at MTF have provided my company with a great service for many years. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommended!
These Guys are great which is rare in the freight business, excellent customer service they go above and beyond to deliver.
We engaged MTF Melbourne to handle our imports and redeliveries after our existing provider deemed our specialised goods too difficult for them to handle. MTF have been nothing short of fantastic to deal with, from the admin & sales staff, through to the logistics team, everybody is a pleasure to deal with, friendly and efficient, and make the entire process a breeze, all at reasonable rates.
